Sergiy Lebedynskyy
Born in 1982 in Kharkiv, Ukraine
EN The artist belongs to the Kharkiv School Photography. As many other Kharkiv photographers, he has an engineering background: in 1994-2004 Sergiy studied in Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, in 2005-2012 worked as scientist at Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus, Germany, where he defended his PhD thesis in 2013.
Sergiy Lebedynskyy has been engaged in photography since 2007. Together with Vladyslav Krasnoshchok, Vadim Trykoz and Oleksiy Sobolev, he co-founded a group Shilo in 2010. The artist’s manner is defined by the fusion of documentality and variety of technological manipulations and performativity.
Sergiy also a curator and a collector of Ukrainian and East-European photography artists. His collection became the core of the Museum of Kharkiv School of Photography (MOKSOP) founded in 2018.
